It was so wonderful to have Jesse Miller as a guest. It was eye-opening to hear about his experience of being a teacher and also the power of social media. He is a great resource for us to connect and learn from. It is horrific to see and hear how social media can end someone’s career. This made realize that we as an educator are the “fishbowl”. This teaches us how we should be mindful of how we represent ourselves on social media platforms. Having social media is a blessing and a curse at the same time. I am glad to learn this now and not end up in lawsuits for misusing social media and copyrights. We can pass this knowledge on to our future students.
After this class, I googled myself and made most of my photos on social media private because I realized how my social media can detect my future career. Jesse’s perspective on social media and the internet is significantly beneficial to us as future teachers.
